Forget your passwords
While at frog, I worked with a team to develop an entirely new user experience for a first-to-market digital security product. The company, Eyelock, is extremely advanced in the biometric industry with many of their security devices used in international airports and corporate spaces. They saw an opportunity to package their iris authentication scanning technology into a holistic consumer product experience. Our team worked with them to design a hardware and software platform that is intuitive to use that appears intelligent, without appearing overly invasive. With Myris, a user can unlock their computer and log into any of their online bank or social media accounts by simply looking into the device; essentially never having to remember password again.

CONCEPTS & USER TESTING
We were designing a new user behavior, so it needed it to be intuitive and ideally familiar. Realizing the experience was similar to looking into a mirror, we made it “as simple as looking into a mirror.” We created numerous low fidelity mockups to test with users and get feedback on form factor ergonomics and affordances.
FINAL DESIGN
The user looks at their reflection in the convex mirror as the camera takes 20 photos per second of their iris. The LED ring illuminates when it’s in an active state. It changes to green once it has a match.
Myris simplifies biometric security, so that anyone can easily create an identity and login within seconds. The design debuted in 2014 at CES receiving excellent reviews from tech publications such as CNET, Engadget and Designboom.
